Shut Down a Virtual Machine
Aswithphysicalcomputers,youcanshutdownaguestoperatingsystembeforeyou
poweroffthevirtualmachineorteam.
YouarenotrequiredtoshutdowntheguestbeforeyouexitWorkstation.Toexit
Workstationbutleavethevirtualmachinerunninginthebackground,see“Closing
VirtualMachinesandEx
itingWorkstation”onpage 71.
To shut down a virtual machine

usingaphysicalmachineratherthanavirtualmachine.
Forexample,inWindowsXP,clickStart>ShutDown.

IfyouusethePowerOffcommandbeforeyoushutdowntheguestoperatingsystem,
thevirtualmachineispoweredoffabruptly.Theeffectislikeusingthepowerbutton
onaphysicalmachine.Youcan,however,configurethePowerOffbuttoninthetool
